Christmas 2016 Food Collection

Farnborough Lions distribute seasonal happiness from Think Ford

Pictured at the collection point is Ford Franchise Director Paul Hayes with Farnborough Lion Richard Keeley. The focus of all Lions Clubs is to help those in their communities who have fallen on hard times and cannot make ends meet. Despite Farnborough Lions Club being based in an affluent part of the country there are still many people in this area who face hunger and hardship over Christmas.

With this in mind the Think Ford motor dealerships in Farnborough and Guildford have been asking their staff and customers  to make donations  of non perishable food items during December for distribution by their local Lions Clubs to the less fortunate in their communities.

Amongst the 12 boxes of non perishable and tinned food collected in the Farnborough showroom were over 25 teddies and soft toys of various sizes and several dozen story books for young children. "This has made a fantastic addition to the generous food collection from Ford staff and customers" said Farnborough Lion Richard Keeley during the presentation at the Elles Road Showroom. "These will will bring much happiness to the children under medical  treatment in Frimley Park Hospital over the Christmas period. We really appreciate local business coming on board to help us make a real difference during the festive season".

The food donations were taken to The Vine Centre in Aldershot which provides emergency accommodation and meals for vulnerable young people throughout the Rushmoor area. The Vine Centre is open throughout Christmas and provides invaluable aid to young people by providing 20 frontline services including a drop in health clinic, housing and benefit advice, emergency food parcels, securing accommodation for the homeless and counselling to help them rebuild their lives.
