Spectacle Recycling

Farnborough Lions sort and pack thousands of recycled spectacles for the third worldPictured earlier this year, members of Farnborough Lions Club are seen sorting through spectacles collected locally for use at eye clinics in the poorer countries of the world. On this occasion we packed up 36 boxes of spectacles totalling 4320 pairs of glasses.

The used glasses and send them to Chichester Lions Club for sorting before they go on to Medico France in Le Havre for grading and then distribution to our contacts running eye clinics in Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Nigeria, Nepal and many other countries.

At these centres they are used to restore good vision to thousands enabling these recipients to return to work and support their families.

We have 2 collection points in the Farnborough area:

Frimley Park Hospital Eye Clinic

and Ash Vale Optical Centre, Wharf Road, Ash Vale.

If you have prescription glasses and sunglasses to donate please take them to these collection points or email secretary@farnborough-lions.org.uk
