Spectacle Recycling

Sorting through the recycled spectacles for shipping to Medico FrancePictured recently, members of Farnborough Lions Club are seen sorting through spectacles collected locally for use at eye clinics in the poorer countries of the world. On this occasion we packed up 36 boxes of spectacles totalling 4320 pairs of glasses.

The used glasses are sent to Chichester Lions Club for sorting before they go onto Medico France in Le Havre for grading. They are then distributed to our contacts running eye clinics in Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Nigeria, Nepal and many other countries.

At these centres they are used to restore good vision to thousands enabling these recipients to return to work and support their families.

We have 3 collection points in the Farnborough area:

Boots Opticians, 87 - 91 Queensmead, Farnborough. GU14 7RZ

Frimley Park Hospital Eye Clinic, GU16 7UJ.

Ash Vale Optical Centre, Wharf Road, Ash Vale GU12 5AZ.

If you have prescription glasses and sunglasses to donate please take them to these collection points or email secretary@farnborough-lions.org.uk

Although Chichester Lions Club have temporarily paused their spectacle processing service, Farnborough Lions are still collecting spectacles. We are storing them until full service is restored. Please continue donating your old glasses in the collection points detailed above. Many thanks.
