Farnborough Lions sponsored Cherrywood Community Primary School, Manor Junior School and Tower Hill Primary School in the national ROAR 2022 Competition which is run in partnership with the education company, 8billionideas. It benefits schools by enhancing life skills that meet all of the personal, social and health education curriculum requirements.

The competition encourages the children to 'Think Big' to address world problems and create ideas which will overcome these problems and change the world for the better. As part of this competition, they produce in teams a poster to advertise their ideas, a model which demonstrates the team concepts and a snappy radio jingle to promote these ideas before pitching these ideas before a panel of judges comprising of school governors, teachers and Lions Club members.

A video of the winning team presentation from each school was submitted to the judging team from 8billionideas to compete against more than 200 schools nationally through Zoom connections on 7th December.

Our sincere thanks go Roger Noble and B Radio in Farnborough for making a podcast which tells the story of the ROAR 2022 Competition in the words of the pupils and teachers at Cherrywood School. The podcast illustrated by pictures taken at all 3 schools can be viewed from the YouTube link below.
