The Annual Bowling Challenge with Farnham Lions

Farnborough & Farnham Lions bowling teams. The annual 10 pin bowling competition between Farnborough and Farnham Lions Clubs in September has been a resounding success. Nearly 50 Lions and their partrners took over all the lanes at the Pine Ridge Golf Centre. The atmosphere of friendly competition, easy conversation and varied bowling abities made an excellent evening out for both Lions Clubs. The evening comprised of the annual bowling challenge for the 'Farnborough Lions Cup' with a team competition between both clubs with awards also going to the best individual players. A delicious meal was served at half time by staff at Pine Ridge. With everything to play for, Farnborough Lions turned around the form of previous years by taking the team trophy and the best female bowling prizes for the evening.

Next year Farnborough Lions look forward to retaining the trophy. For details of this and other social events with Farnborough Lions  call Dave Lewis on 01252 654066 or email dave.lewis@farnborough-lions.org.uk

Farnborough Lions Club is a member of the worldwide assocation of ‘Lions Clubs International'. The majority of our work is concentrated around the Farnborough and Rushmoor area and to that end we meet 4 times a year with fellow Lions in the 6 other Lions clubs in our immediate area or ‘Zone'. These regular dinner meetings with Aldershot, Fleet, Hart, Hook and Odiham, Sirius and Yateley & District Lions Clubs enable us to talk through local Lions projects in a social environment as well as hearing from guest speakers.

This September the Zone Meeting heard from Lions Eric and Stella Bowyer from the Lions Club of Emerald and District in Queensland, Australia on how their Lions Club works in the isolated mining town of  Emerald, 40 miles  from the nearest large town of Rockhampton. They gave a unique and personal insight into how the Emerald Lions carries through the shared Lions ethos by making a positive difference in their local community, fundraising towards helping with health and research and disaster relief.

If you would like to find out more about how the work of Farnborough Lions contributes locally, nationally and worldwide to those shared aims telephone 0845 833 4345 or make contact with Farnborough Lions by clicking here.
