Street Children

The Street Children Project is a joint initiative of Lions Clubs International and the Consortium for Street Children, an umbrella organisation made up of more than 50 UK charities supporting street children programmes and projects in 78 countries.
World wide it is estimated that millions of children are forced to live by their wits in alleys and avenues of faceless cities. They have no access to education, basic services or family affection and support. they are an underclass with poor chances of a decent future. Condemned to live by deceit, stealing, prostitution or violence, they are old before their time. They change from trusting innocents to embittered survivors, respecting little but the code of the streets, it's violence and limitations.

Lions Clubs International support organsiations that give education and life skills opportunities to these vulnerable children. The links to the left provide information about six charities working with street children.

Working in partnership with other organisations the British Isles and Ireland Lions Clubs work to . . .

.             Send a child to school, decorate a classroom or feed a child for a year.
.             Provide health and educational needs to the communities in which they live.
.             Bring long term permanent improvement into the lives of street or working children.
