About Lions
Lions Clubs International is the largest service organisation in the world.
Founded in Chicago in 1917 it has now spread to every continent, with 1.4 million members in clubs in more than 180 countries and areas.
Membership is open to everyone over the age of 25, (younger members have their own club called Leos), with no upper age limit or discrimination as to gender, race or religious beliefs.
Each club has four main committees who are responsible for Fund Raising, Welfare Projects, Social Activities and Membership.
Every penny that we raise goes directly to our Welfare account; the cost of administration is borne entirely by the members, which most members pay by a monthly standing order of £10.
