3 Parks Walk 2010
Press Release: Farnborough Lions 3 Parks Charity Walk
Farnborough Lions Club would like to thank everyone who took part in their annual 3 Parks 50/50 Charity Walk. This was the second year the event was held with all money raised split 50/50 between the walkers' chosen charities and the Lions' community welfare funds.
The walkers assembled in King George V Park and were helped by a warm up exercise routine given by trainers based at Fitnesscamp. The event started with a resounding drum performance by Oku Nojo Daiko a Japanese Drum Band comprising of ex students from Oak Farm Secondary School in Farnborough. They were joined in their performance by the Mayor of Rushmoor, Councillor Brian Parker, who bid the walkers well at the start of the 4.2 mile walk.
Nearly 50 participants then enjoyed the 2 hour walk through Queen Elizabeth Park, on to Rectory Road Park then back to King George V Pavilion for refreshments.
Last year's 3 parks 50/50 Charity Walk raised over £500 for Farnborough Lions community work and the Walker's principal chosen charities were the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie Nurses. This year's event was a resounding success and we're hoping to be well up on last year's total.
Once again our thanks to The Mayor of Rushmoor, the staff at Fitnesscamp, Oku Nojo Daiko Drum Band, our sponsors Taylor Made Landscapes and everyone who took part. If you would like to find out more about the work of Farnborough Lions Club and their future events visit www.farnborough-lions.org.uk
